Chapter 119
89 Forever, O LORD, your word stands firm in the heavens. 90 Generation after generation, you have established your faithfulness; the land stands. 91 They stand today by your judgments, for all are your servants. 92 Unless your Torah had been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. 93 Forever, I will not forget your precepts, for by them you have made me alive. 94 I am yours—save me, for I have sought your appointments. 95 The wicked wait for me to destroy me; I will meditate on your testimonies. 96 To every end I have seen a limit; your commandments are exceedingly broad. 97 How I love your Torah! All day long it is my meditation. 98 You have made me wiser than my enemies; your commandment is mine forever. 99 I have gained more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. 100 I have more insight than the elders, for I have kept your charges. 101 I have restrained my foot from every evil path, so that I might keep your word. 102 I have not turned aside from your justices, for you have taught me. 103 How sweet to my palate is your word, more than honey to my mouth! 104 From your charges I discern; therefore I hate every way of falsehood. 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my paths. 106 I have sworn and I will fulfill it, to keep your righteous judgments. 107 I have been afflicted to an extreme degree, LORD; give me grace according to your word. 108 May the voluntary offerings of my mouth please you, LORD, and teach me your judgments. 109 My vital life force is continually in my palm, and I have not forgotten your Torah/instruction. 110 The wicked have set a trap for me, and I have not strayed from your commandments. 111 My inheritance is your testimonies forever, for they are the joy of my heart. 112 I have inclined my heart to do your statutes forever, O LORD. 113 I hate branches, but I love your Torah. 114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I have hoped in your word. 115 Depart from me, evildoers, and I will keep the commandments of my God. 116 Sustain me according to your word, and I will live, and do not shame me in my hope. 117 Support me and I will be saved, and I will obey your statutes perpetually. 118 You have rejected all the erring ones from your statutes, for their deception is a lie. 119 You put away all the wicked of the land like dross; therefore I love your testimonies. 120 My flesh shuddered in dread of you, and I am in awe of your judgments. 121 I have done justice and righteousness; do not leave me to my oppressors. 122 Give surety, your servant for good, God—let not presumptuous ones oppress me. 123 My eyes fail for your salvation and for the word of your righteousness. 124 Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love, and teach me your statutes. 125 Your servant—I—make me understand, and I will know your Congregation. 126 It is time to act for the LORD; they have broken your Torah. 127 Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, even more than fine gold. 128 Therefore I hate all your precepts—all righteous ones—all paths of falsehood. 129 Your testimonies are wonders; therefore I have guarded them, my nephesh. 130 The opening of your words gives light; it makes the simple understand. 131 I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I long for your commandments. 132 Turn to me and show me grace according to your judgment for those who love your name. 133 Make my steps firm by your oracle, and let no iniquity rule over me. 134 Redeem me from the oppression of man, and I will keep your precepts. 135 Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your statutes. 136 My eyes run down with streams of water over those not keeping your Torah. 137 You are righteous, LORD, and your judgments are upright. 138 You have commanded your testimonies—righteousness—and very much faithfulness. 139 My zeal has consumed me because my foes have forgotten your words. 140 Your word is very refined, and your servant loves it. 141 I am young and I have not forgotten your appointments. 142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your Torah is truth. 143 Distress and straits have found me, but your commandments are my delight. 144 Your testimonies are righteousness forever. Give me understanding, and I will live. 145 I called with all my heart: "Answer me, LORD! I will treasure your statutes." 146 I have called to you; save me, and I will keep your testimonies. 147 I waited for twilight and dawn and cried out; I waited for your word. 148 My eyes were ahead of the watches to meditate on your word. 149 Hear my voice in accordance with your steadfast love, O LORD; in accordance with your justice, grace me. 150 They have approached, pursuers of lewdness; they are far from your Torah. 151 You are near, O LORD, and all your commandments are truth. 152 Long ago I knew from your testimonies that you founded them forever. 153 See my afflictions and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your Torah. 154 Plead my cause and redeem me according to your word; grace me. 155 Salvation is far from the wicked, for they did not seek your statutes. 156 Your compassions are many, O LORD; according to your judgments, grace me. 157 Many pursue me, my adversaries; I have not inclined from your testimonies. 158 I saw traitors, and I am enraged—those who have not kept your word. 159 See that I have loved your visitations, LORD, as your steadfast love—grace me. 160 The head of your word is truth, and all the judgments of your righteousness endure forever. 161 Princes have pursued me without cause, and my heart fears your word. 162 I rejoice in your divine utterance like one who finds much spoil. 163 I hate falsehood and abominate it; I love your Torah. 164 Seven times a day I praise you for the judgments of your righteousness. 165 Great peace to lovers of your Torah, and there is no stumbling block for them. 166 I have hoped for your salvation, O LORD, and I have done your commandments. 167 My soul has kept your testimonies, and I love them greatly. 168 I keep your charges and your testimonies, for all my ways are before you. 169 May my jubilant praise approach before you, LORD, according to your word; give me understanding. 170 May my supplication come before you according to your word. Deliver me. 171 My lips will pour forth praise, for you have taught me your statutes. 172 My tongue will answer your word, for all your commandments are righteousness. 173 May your hand help me, for I have chosen your commands. 174 I long for your salvation, O LORD, and your Torah is my delight. 175 May my soul live and praise you, and may your justice help me. 176 I have strayed like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments.
